Frequently Asked Questions

On a home-office desk, how often will this cartridge need changing across a year?

Probably once, if that. The MLT-D101S is rated at 1,500 pages, and a home-office SCX-3405W printing a hundred pages a month takes fifteen months over one cartridge. Even doubling that pace leaves a change roughly every seven months — this is a platform where toner is a rare errand, not a routine.

Is 1,500 pages a realistic yield for an SCX-3405W in daily use?

Yes, for the daily use the rating imagines: text pages at about 5% coverage. Letters, forms and invoices land near it; a daily diet of full-page graphics lands below it, because the rating counts coverage as much as pages. Judge your own expectation by what your pages look like.

What does one cartridge cost us per week on the SCX-3405W?

$32.73 spread over 1,500 rated pages is about 2.18 cents a page — at fifty pages a week, a little over a dollar a week in toner. The five-pack of the same MLT-D101S brings the page cost towards 1.2 cents, though at a home-office pace the saving takes a long while to arrive.

The SCX-3405W turns out delivery notes all day — what does one cartridge mean in working weeks?

If "all day" means 300 printed and copied pages a week, about five working weeks. Delivery notes are light-coverage pages, so that kind of work tracks the rating well; the cartridge will end on output fading evenly, and a gentle rock side to side buys the last decent run before the swap.

Does this cartridge also fit our other Samsung machine?

Yes, if it is on the MLT-D101S list: the ML-2165W and the SCX machines — 3400F, 3400FW, 3405, 3405FW and 3405W. One cartridge type across the family keeps the drawer simple.

What cover applies to this cartridge?

A warranty of a year and free returns for a year: a unit that leaks, streaks or fails early within that period is returnable without charge, following the steps on the shipping and returns page. Support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
