Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect from this cartridge in an SCX-3405 used at home?

A long, quiet service life. The MLT-D101S is rated at 1,500 pages, and a home SCX-3405 printing homework, tickets and the odd form might use fifty pages a month — at that pace one cartridge covers the better part of two years. Expect ordinary text pages to track the rating closely, since the 5% coverage it assumes is exactly what home documents look like.

What does a page cost with this cartridge in the SCX-3405?

Roughly 2.18 cents of toner — $32.73 for 1,500 rated pages. For a home user that is the whole running-cost story on the toner side: a few dollars a year at light volumes, with no smaller or cheaper fill of this cartridge to hunt for.

Does copying at home draw on this cartridge the same way?

Yes — a copy is a printed page as far as the toner is concerned. Scanning a document to the computer, on the other hand, uses no toner at all. On a home machine the copy button is usually a small share of the total either way.

Can I keep a spare on the shelf, or does toner go off?

Keep one without worry. Sealed, flat, and somewhere cool and dry, an MLT-D101S waits on the shelf for as long as a home printer takes to need it — toner does not go off in any practical sense, which makes a spare cheap insurance against the mid-print run-out.

Which other Samsung models take this same cartridge?

The MLT-D101S family: the SCX-3405, SCX-3405FW and SCX-3405W, the SCX-3400F and SCX-3400FW, and the ML-2165W. A spare bought for the SCX-3405 fits any of them.

What cover backs this purchase?

Twelve months of cover: the warranty runs a year, and returns are free across the same year, so a cartridge that leaks, streaks or fails early comes back to us without charge. The shipping and returns page sets out the process, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
