Magenta is the colour that decides whether a small office's output looks branded or bargain — reds, purples and skin tones all lean on it. Our compatible T822XL320-S is the high-capacity magenta for the 822 line: DURABrite Ultra pigment ink, rated up to 1,100 pages (ISO/IEC 24711), against 240 pages for the standard T822320-S magenta.

The code itself is documented at the source: Epson America's official 822XL fact sheet lists T822XL320-S among the family's four XL ordering codes, and Epson's product data for the magenta names the same six US printers as every other colour on this shelf. There is no separate magenta compatibility list to guess at — one family, six models, four colours.

It works in any mix with its siblings — T822XL120-S black, T822XL220-S cyan, T822XL420-S yellow — and alongside standard-tier colours while you transition a printer to XL. It fits nothing in the 812 wide-format family and nothing in the 232 home family, whatever a marketplace listing implies. The cartridge carries a new compatible chip; please read the firmware note in the questions below before ordering. Covered by our lifetime warranty, with free returns for the first year.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of ink is inside?

DURABrite Ultra pigment ink — the same ink family Epson specifies for the whole 822 line, in all four colours. Pigment ink is why these printers are known for smudge-, water- and fade-resistant document prints.

How many pages does this magenta print?

Up to 1,100 pages on the ISO/IEC 24711 pattern — Epson's published rating for the T822XL320. The standard magenta (T822320) is rated at 240 pages, so the XL tier is more than a fourfold step for this colour.

My reds look orange and my purples look blue. Is magenta low?

That colour shift is the classic magenta symptom: without enough magenta, reds slide orange and purples lose their red component. Check the level reading, run a nozzle check, and clean only if the pattern is broken — if the cartridge is spent, replacing it restores the balance.

    Which printers does it fit?

The six officially verified US models: WF-3820, WF-3823, WF-4820, WF-4830, WF-4833, WF-4834. Epson America's 822XL fact sheet names the platform, and Epson's product data for this colour carries the same list.

Is there a standard-capacity version of this cartridge on your shelf?

No. Our 822 shelf is built on the XL tier — the standard magenta (T822320-S) exists in Epson's catalogue and fits the same slot, and it is named here for matching, but the cartridge we sell in this colour is the XL.

Will this cartridge be recognised by my printer?

This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — Epson's own spec sheet for these printers warns that other brands, even if described as compatible, may not function properly. Power the printer off, reseat the cartridge until it clicks, and restart before assuming the cartridge is faulty. We do not promise recognition under every future firmware version; if a recognition problem cannot be cleared, the cartridge is covered by our lifetime warranty.

Can I turn off automatic firmware updates?

Yes, and on these models we recommend it once your compatible cartridges are working: the setting lives in the printer's setup / maintenance menus and in the Epson software on your computer. It is the simplest protection against a future update changing how the printer treats a compatible chip.

    How do I install it?

Remove the old magenta cartridge, take the new one out of its pack only when you are ready, remove only the protective tape, and do not touch the green chip. Press it into the magenta holder until it clicks, close the cover, and let the printer charge the ink before printing.

A seller lists this magenta for the XP-4200. Should I buy it for mine?

Not from us, and not for that printer. The XP-4200 belongs to the 232 family — a Claria-ink home platform that is physically and electronically incompatible with 822. A listing that puts 822 ink on an XP-4200 is a seller error.

How should I store a spare cartridge?

Sealed in its pack, upright, at room temperature and out of direct sunlight. Do not open the pack until install day — the seal is what keeps the cartridge reliable. (A specific shelf-life figure is not published for this product; see Specifications.)

Is this a genuine Epson cartridge?

No — it is a Clever Supplies compatible cartridge built to the genuine cartridge's specification and code, labelled compatible on the box and on this page. It is not manufactured by Epson.

What warranty and returns cover this cartridge?

A lifetime warranty: a cartridge that fails to perform is replaced. Free returns run for the first year. (Returns note: the 1-year returns period is our standing compatible-product policy, applied to inkjet as an assumption pending Emrah's inkjet-specific confirmation.)
