Frequently Asked Questions
How long will 1,000 pages of cyan actually last in our Dell 1230?
That depends on how much color your documents really use. The 330-3015 cyan cartridge for the Color Laser 1230 is rated at 1,000 pages at standard coverage. In a home office printing around 100 pages a month with occasional color — a logo here, a chart there — cyan can last the better part of a year. A small office turning out color handouts at 250 pages a month will see it gone in roughly four months. Heavy graphics coverage shortens that further; the rating assumes documents, not posters.
Is $37.13 a good price for this cartridge?
It is the price of this cartridge — and we would rather be straight about what it represents than dress it up. At $37.13 for 1,000 rated pages, the cost works out to about 3.71 cents per page, which is on the expensive side per page. The reason is the cartridge class: the 330-3015 is the small standard cyan supply for the compact Dell Color Laser 1230 and 1235 models, and small cartridges always carry a higher per-page cost than large ones. Judge it as an exact-fit replacement that gets your printer running again, not as bulk toner economics.
When should I reorder, given the short yield?
Earlier than you would with a big cartridge. A 1,000-page rating disappears quickly once a color-heavy project lands — a run of brochures or presentations can use a noticeable share of the 330-3015 in a single week. A practical habit for 1230 owners is to order the next cyan when the printer first reports low, not when it reports empty, so the replacement is on the shelf before the machine stops mid-job.
Do I have to replace all four cartridges when only the cyan is empty?
No. Each color in the Color Laser 1230 is a separate cartridge, and the printer only stops for the one that is actually empty. If your black, magenta and yellow still show life, replacing just the 330-3015 cyan is the correct and economical move — there is no requirement to buy a set, and the remaining cartridges will keep working on their own schedules.
How should I store a spare 330-3015 until I need it?
Keep it sealed in its packaging, flat, in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. Toner does not dry out the way ink does, so a spare bought ahead keeps well — which makes the reorder-early habit above a low-risk one. When the time comes, open it only at the printer, give it a gentle side-to-side rock to distribute the toner, and install it in the cyan slot.
What if the cartridge prints badly or fails early?
