Frequently Asked Questions
Six cartridges for a printer that only holds three colors — how does that work?
As a stock-up box. The set covers the three color positions of the Dell Color Laser 1230c and 1235c — 330-3015 cyan, 330-3014 magenta and 330-3013 yellow, each rated at up to 1,000 pages — with spares left over for the next change. One honest note: the listing does not break down exactly how the six cartridges divide among the three colors, so if the precise split matters for your stock records, ask us before ordering and we will confirm what is in the box.
What does the math look like against singles and against the 3-pack?
One round of colors bought individually — $37.13 for the 330-3015, $39.58 for the 330-3014, $39.38 for the 330-3013 — totals $116.09. This 6-pack is $139.75, which works out to about $23.29 per cartridge, well under the $37–$40 the colors cost one at a time. It also beats restocking with the 3 color set twice: two of those come to $158.24, so the bigger box saves another $18.49. And like the 3-pack, it contains no black cartridge — black is always a separate purchase on these printers.
Who actually goes through color toner fast enough to justify six cartridges?
Anyone whose 1230c or 1235c prints color every day — a front desk printing color forms, a small office doing its own handouts, a home business running labels or flyers. With only 1,000 pages per color cartridge, a printer in daily color use can finish a round of colors surprisingly quickly. If your machine prints color a few times a month, the smaller set is the smarter buy; this one is for steady color volume.
Will the spare cartridges go bad sitting on a shelf?
Kept sealed in their packaging, stored flat at room temperature and out of sunlight and humidity, toner cartridges hold up well for an extended shelf stay. The mistakes to avoid are opening everything at once and storing boxes near a heater or a sunny window. Open each 330-3015, 330-3014 or 330-3013 only when you are ready to install it, and rotate stock so the older box gets used first.
One cartridge from the set printed poorly. Do I have to return all six?
No. Every cartridge is covered individually by our 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, so a single weak 330-3014 does not drag the other five into a return. Get in touch during support hours — Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST — and we will sort out the one cartridge that is misbehaving.
Where does the box ship from?
From the closest of our four warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, which keeps ground transit short for most addresses. The full policy, including return instructions, lives on our shipping and returns page. You can also see the other cartridges for this printer family on our Dell toner page.
About This 1230 6 Color Set
The 6 color set is the bulk version of the color refill for the Dell Color Laser 1230c and 1235c: six cartridges spanning the 330-3015 cyan, 330-3014 magenta and 330-3013 yellow positions, each rated at 1,000 pages, for $139.75 — about $23.29 a cartridge against $37–$40 apiece singly. It suits printers that genuinely earn their keep in color, and like the 3-pack it covers colors only; the black cartridge for these models is a separate line item, every time.
