Frequently Asked Questions
Why does this listing's name end in a long string of numbers?
Those numbers are the point of the listing. The name spells out the set's contents in supply codes — 330-3012, 330-3015, 330-3014 and 330-3013 — so anyone holding an empty cartridge or reading a printer's supply screen can confirm the match character by character before ordering. Listings named after a printer ask you to trust a model badge; this one shows its working.
What do the four numbers correspond to?
330-3012 is black, rated at 1,500 pages. 330-3015 is cyan, 330-3014 is magenta and 330-3013 is yellow, each rated at 1,000 pages. One of each fills every slot in the Dell 1230 cartridge family, and the complete compatible set is priced at $103.22, which divides to about $25.81 per cartridge.
Is this the same set as the Dell 1230 listing without the numbers?
It is. Same four cartridges, same part numbers, same ratings, same $103.22 price, same 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. The catalogue lists this family both ways — by printer name for browsers, by part number for buyers who order from a supply list — and both routes arrive at the identical product. There is no advantage hidden in either listing.
How much printing should we realistically expect from the set?
Plan on the ratings: 1,500 pages of black and 1,000 pages per color at the standard 5% coverage. The Dell 1230 family is a compact desktop line, so these are small-cartridge numbers — entirely adequate for a personal printer or a light-duty desk, and quickly spent by heavy color work, since every color page consumes cyan, magenta and yellow together. Expect to reorder on the colors' schedule, not the black's.
Why does the black cartridge carry a bigger rating than the colors?
Because most printing is text, and text is black's job. Dell gave the 330-3012 a 1,500-page rating against 1,000 for each color, which matches how these machines are actually used: black working constantly, colors contributing to a minority of pages but all three at once when they do. In practice the colors still tend to finish first on color-rich workloads, which is why a complete set — rather than a lone black — is the natural reorder unit.
What happens if a cartridge from this listing fails?
Each one is covered by a 1-year warranty, and returns are free for a year if a cartridge does not perform as it should. The terms are published on our shipping and returns page, support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and orders ship from our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California.
