Frequently Asked Questions

We have two Canon personal copiers in different rooms — does one 2-pack cover both?

Yes, and that is one of the most common reasons people buy this pack. Both cartridges are the same Canon E40 (part number 1491A002AA), so you can load one into each machine, or run one copier with the second cartridge waiting on its shelf. Either way the pair gives you 8,000 pages of total capacity — 4,000 from each cartridge — at $50.34 per cartridge instead of $59.58.

How much does the 2-pack actually save?

Two single cartridges bought separately cost $119.16. This 2-pack is $100.67, so you keep $18.49 and the cost per page falls from about 1.49 cents to about 1.26 cents. It is not a dramatic restructure of your budget — it is simply the same Canon E40 toner for less, with a spare already in the building when the first cartridge fades.

If I keep the second cartridge as a spare, how should it be stored?

Leave it sealed in its bag, stored flat in a cool, dry spot away from sunlight and heat. Sealed toner keeps well, so there is no rush to install it — an opened cartridge is better used than shelved. A useful habit: write the month it arrived on the box. When you do swap, you always reach for the oldest cartridge first and nothing sits forgotten for years.

One copier copies all day and the other barely runs — is the 2-pack still sensible?

Yes. Nothing says the two cartridges have to be consumed at the same rate. Feed the busy machine first; the second cartridge waits, sealed, until the busy copier needs it or the quiet one finally runs dry. Because every cartridge in the pack is the same Canon E40, uneven use between machines causes no problem at all — the pack follows whichever copier empties first.

Are both cartridges covered if one of them is faulty?

Both are. Each Canon E40 (1491A002AA) cartridge in this pack is a new compatible cartridge — not a refill — and each carries our 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. If one prints badly out of the box or fails early, that cartridge is replaced or refunded on its own; you do not have to send the good one back with it.

How quickly will the pack get here?

We ship from four US warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California — so the pack travels from the warehouse nearest you. Delivery timing and the return process are spelled out on our shipping and returns page. Questions before or after ordering: our support team answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This Canon E40 2-Pack

This pack holds two compatible Canon E40 black toner cartridges, part number 1491A002AA, each rated for up to 4,000 pages — 8,000 pages in total at about 1.26 cents per page, and $18.49 less than buying the pair one at a time. It suits offices running more than one Canon PC or FC personal copier, or a single copier whose owner prefers the spare to be in the cupboard rather than in a shopping cart. Both cartridges are covered by our 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. The full compatible range is on our Canon toner page.
