Frequently Asked Questions

What makes this a MICR cartridge rather than a regular one?

The toner inside. This is the 106R01530 cartridge filled with MICR toner — magnetic ink character recognition toner — instead of standard black toner. The magnetic component lets bank sorting equipment read the characters printed along the bottom of checks. The cartridge body, fit and yield are the same as the standard 106R01530; only the toner formulation is different, and that difference exists for one job: printing checks.

What is this cartridge used for?

Printing checks on blank check stock — payroll checks, accounts-payable checks and similar documents where the bank line has to be machine-readable. If your office prints its own checks from a WorkCentre 3550-family machine, this is the cartridge intended for that work. For everyday letters, invoices and reports, the standard cartridge is the right choice and costs the same.

How many pages does the MICR cartridge print?

It carries the same rating as the regular 106R01530: 11,000 pages at 5% coverage. Check runs are usually short documents, so a single cartridge typically covers a long stretch of check printing. At $69.02, the rated yield works out to about 0.63 cents per page.

Which printers does it work with?

The MICR 106R01530 fits the same platform as the standard cartridge: the WorkCentre 3550, WorkCentre 3550X, WorkCentre 3550XM and WorkCentre 3550YX. Many offices keep this cartridge for the machine that handles checks and standard cartridges in the rest.

Does it cost more than the standard cartridge?

No. This MICR version is $69.02, exactly the same price as the standard single 106R01530 on this site. There is no premium to pay for the check-printing formulation, so the choice between them comes down purely to the work the cartridge will do.

What warranty and returns cover does it have?

The same as our other compatible cartridges: a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. The full terms are on our shipping and returns page, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if you want to talk through a check-printing setup before ordering.

About This MICR Cartridge

This is a single compatible Xerox 106R01530 MICR black toner cartridge for check printing, rated at 11,000 pages and priced at $69.02. For general office printing on the same machines, the standard 106R01530 single cartridge is the counterpart at the same price, and the 106R01530 two-pack covers offices that want a standard spare on hand. Orders ship from our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California; the broader range is on our Xerox toner page.
