Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my SL-M2826 use more toner on some documents than others?

Toner consumption follows coverage. A page of plain text uses very little; a page carrying a big shaded table, a logo block or a scanned form can use several times as much. That is why the MLT-D116L's 3,000-page rating — measured at about 5% coverage — feels generous on correspondence and shorter on report packs. Nothing is wrong with the cartridge or the SL-M2826; the documents themselves set the pace.

What are the signs that the cartridge in my SL-M2826 is genuinely empty?

Real end-of-life shows in the print, not on the panel: pages come out faded down the middle, gray instead of black, or streaked even after a gentle shake of the cartridge. Rocking the MLT-D116L side to side buys a little more life by levelling the remaining toner; when the fade returns quickly after that, the cartridge is done and a fresh one is the fix.

How long does one cartridge last in an SL-M2826 at small-office volumes?

Work it back from the 3,000-page rating. A desk printing around 250 pages a month gets close to a year from one cartridge; at 750 pages a month expect roughly four months; a busy shared SL-M2826 doing 1,500 pages a month will want a new MLT-D116L about every two months. At $32.13 a cartridge, even the busiest of those routines stays inexpensive.

Does this cartridge fit Samsung models other than the SL-M2826?

It does — the SL-M2826 is one of many machines built around the MLT-D116L. The same cartridge runs the SL-M2835DW, SL-M2885FW, Xpress M2626, Xpress M2676, Xpress M2826, Xpress M2835 DW, Xpress M2875, Xpress M2875 DW, Xpress SL-M2625D, Xpress SL-M2675F, Xpress SL-M2825DW and Xpress SL-M2875FD, so offices running a mix of Samsung mono printers can standardise on a single cartridge code. The Samsung toner range shows the cartridge alongside the rest of the family.

I keep seeing references to an MLT-R116 — is that something I need as well?

The MLT-R116 is the imaging drum unit for this printer family — a separate part from the toner cartridge, and not something you change at the same time. The drum lives through several MLT-D116L cartridges and only needs replacing when the printer calls for it or when repeating marks appear on every page at the same spacing. For a straightforward toner change, the cartridge on this page is all you need.

What happens if this cartridge arrives damaged or faulty?

Send it back — returns are free for a year and every cartridge carries a 1-year warranty, so a damaged or faulty unit is replaced or refunded without a fight. The process is explained on our shipping and returns page. Your order is picked from the nearest of our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, and if you want to talk it through first, support is on hand Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
