Aficio 1515MF
The MF in Aficio 1515MF stands for the full multifunction package: copying, network printing, color scanning and document handling in a single 15 ppm footprint — one machine doing the work of three. It is fed by the Type 1170D black toner, cartridge 841718, which also carries the alternate Ricoh number 888260 and is rated for up to 7,000 pages, keeping running costs predictable month to month.
The 1515MF's particular trick is fleet simplicity. The whole 1515 series shares this one cartridge, so an office running mixed variants — a base 1515 in one room, the MF here, an F by the front desk — keeps exactly one toner on the shelf, and nobody has to learn which machine eats what. For a small office standardizing on a proven platform, that single-supply discipline quietly removes a whole category of ordering mistakes.

Which cartridge should you buy?
One cartridge, three quantities. Singles serve light-duty machines and first orders. The 2-pack is the balanced choice for an MF that the whole office leans on: its color scanning and network printing make it the default destination for everyone's pages, so its cartridge turns over faster than a satellite machine's would. The 4-pack suits heavier use, or a shelf shared by several 1515-family machines; the per-cartridge price falls as the box grows, and at up to 7,000 pages per cartridge even the largest box is a measured stock, not a gamble. Every listing in the table is the same 841718 cartridge, including the ones labeled Type 1170D.
Chip, toner and everyday use
Network printing means the 1515MF often works while nobody is standing at it, so swap on the machine's low-toner warning rather than waiting for visibly faded output in the tray. Seat the new cartridge firmly and let the machine read it before the queue resumes. The 7,000-page figure assumes 5% coverage; dense documents use toner faster, while ordinary office text tracks the rating well. A gentle end-to-end rock redistributes powder near the end of a cartridge's life, and spares store best sealed, flat, and out of the sun.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which cartridge fits the Aficio 1515MF?
The 841718 black toner — also sold as Type 1170D and referenced as 888260. All three names describe the same cartridge.
It scans in color — does it print in color too?
No. The 1515MF is a black-and-white system: scanning is in color, but every printed and copied page is black only, which is why it needs just one toner cartridge.
Will this toner work in the 1515 and 1515F too?
Yes. The 1515, 1515F and 1515MF share the exact same 841718 cartridge, so one stock serves all three.
What is the page yield?
Up to 7,000 pages per cartridge at 5% coverage.
