Frequently Asked Questions
Should you really keep a spare for a copier of this age?
Yes — arguably more than for a new machine. When an older copier runs dry, there is no quick trip to a big-box store to save the day; the cartridge has to come from a specialist shelf like ours. One in the machine and one sealed beside it means the 816 simply never sits idle waiting on a delivery.
Two cartridges, one older copier — how long does that actually cover?
Fourteen thousand pages. At the few hundred pages a month a machine like this typically handles, that is two years or more of copies and prints from a single $39.12 order. It may well be the last toner purchase the copier ever needs — and if it is not, you will know the machine earned its keep.
What does the pair save versus buying singles?
Two singles would cost $57.62; the two-pack is $39.12, which is $19.56 per cartridge and $18.50 saved. The cartridges themselves are identical either way — the discount is purely for buying the spare at the same time as the one you need now.
How should the spare be stored for what might be a long wait?
Sealed in its bag, flat, at room temperature and away from direct sunlight. Toner is a stable dry powder — it does not dry out, gel or clog in storage — so a cartridge can wait a year or more and print like new when its turn comes.
What if the copier dies before the spare is ever opened?
Then send the spare back: unopened cartridges are returnable free of charge within a year of purchase, and each cartridge independently carries a one-year warranty — see the returns policy for how it works. Stocking a spare for an old machine is not a sunk cost.
