Aficio 1515F
Fax is what separates the Aficio 1515F from its base sibling: the same 15 ppm digital platform — copying, printing and scanning — plus a built-in fax module for offices that still send documents over phone lines. Four functions, one supply: the black cartridge 841718, also listed as Type 1170D and referenced by Ricoh under the alternate number 888260, rated for up to 7,000 pages per cartridge.
Plenty of offices still live on fax more than they admit: signed orders, medical and legal paperwork, suppliers who never moved to email. The 1515F folds that traffic into the same machine that handles the office's copies and prints, so there is no separate fax unit consuming its own supplies in the corner. And because every printed page the machine produces draws on the same single cartridge, the person who orders toner for a 1515F has the shortest job in the building — one part number, remembered once.

Which cartridge should you buy?
There is exactly one cartridge decision for this machine, and it is a quantity decision. The 841718 in the table — whether the listing says MP-1515F or Type 1170D, it is the identical cartridge — is rated for up to 7,000 pages. A single suits an office whose fax and copy volume is light. The 2-pack is the sensible default for a machine other people depend on: when the working cartridge ends, its replacement is already in the building. The 4-pack fits busier sites and multi-machine offices standardizing on this family, trimming the per-cartridge cost and the number of orders placed each year.
Chip, toner and everyday use
A fax machine cannot choose when work arrives, so the 1515F's cartridge deserves a spare on site — an overnight fax run is exactly when an empty cartridge goes unnoticed the longest. Installation is a straight slide-in; the machine recognizes the cartridge and returns to ready on its own. Ratings assume 5% coverage, and fax pages, being mostly text, track close to that figure, which makes the roughly 7,000-page rating a dependable planning number here. Rock a fading cartridge gently to squeeze out its last even pages, and store the spare flat, sealed and dry.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the fax function use a separate cartridge?
No. One 841718 cartridge feeds every printed output the 1515F produces — copies, prints and incoming faxes alike.
Is the 1515F's toner the same as the plain 1515's?
Yes. The Aficio 1515, 1515F and 1515MF all use the identical 841718 cartridge; the machines differ in features, not in supplies.
Why does my cartridge box say 888260?
Because Ricoh catalogs this cartridge under more than one number. 888260, 841718 and Type 1170D all name the same cartridge, and any of them fits your 1515F.
How many pages will one cartridge print?
Up to 7,000 pages at 5% coverage — a long interval for a machine in the 15 ppm class.
