The Oki C5300 uses the 42804501 (black), 42804502 (cyan), 42804503 (magenta) and 42804504 (yellow) toner cartridges. They are individual units, so heavy black-text printing consumes only the 42804501.

Do I have to replace the drum every time I change toner on the C5300?

No — toner and image drums are separate consumables on the C5300. You replace the 42804501–42804504 toner cartridges as they empty and the drums on their own much longer cycle. That separation is one reason older Oki color printers stay economical to run: you are never discarding a good drum along with an empty toner cartridge.

Prints from my C5300 look faded — is the toner the problem?

Often, but not always. First check the toner levels for 42804501–42804504 in the driver status tab; if black text is pale while color is fine, the black cartridge is the likely culprit. If all four colors are faded evenly, the LED printheads may need cleaning or the image drums may be near end of life — wiping the LED heads with a soft cloth fixes pale output more often than people expect.
