B4600N
The B4600N adds networking to the B4600 monochrome laser, making the top of OKI's B4400-generation family a shared workgroup printer. It takes the same cartridges as its siblings: the 43502301 standard cartridge, or the longer-running 43502001 high-yield cartridge. A separate 43501901 imaging drum handles image transfer inside the machine, and it is replaced independently once its roughly 25,000-page life runs out.
A workgroup printer lives under different pressures from a personal one. Its queue mixes a dozen people's deadlines, its toner light is everybody's problem and nobody's job, and its supplies are cheapest bought before they are urgent. The B4600N's family-standard cartridges play directly to that reality: the same two cartridges feed every B4400-to-B4600 machine in the building, networked or not, so one shelf serves the whole fleet and a cartridge borrowed from a quieter printer's stock fits the busy one in a pinch.

Drum unit, sold separately: the 43501901 — about 25,000 pages, also sold on this page under B4400 drum listings including multi-packs. Both toner cartridges likewise appear here under B4400 listings.
Which cartridge should you buy?
For a shared machine, plan around the high-yield cartridge. The 43502001 is the longer-running of the two, so it spaces swaps further apart and brings the cost of each page down — the right trade when a whole workgroup's output flows through one tray. The standard 43502301 remains the sensible fill for a B4600N in a lighter posting, where total volume is modest and a smaller cartridge keeps less money tied up in the machine. Either way, shared printers justify keeping at least one spare on the shelf: the five minutes a swap takes should never wait on a delivery.
Chip, toner and everyday use
Treat the toner-low message as a planning notice, not an alarm. It means the cartridge is in its final stretch: rocking it gently redistributes the remaining toner and stretches its life, and a fresh cartridge should be on hand for the moment print quality actually drops. Swapping is a quick front-loading job with no tools. The drum runs its own much longer clock — roughly 25,000 pages — and asks for attention through print defects rather than a level warning, so judge it by symptoms, not by the toner calendar. Ratings are quoted at 5% coverage, as usual.
Frequently Asked Questions
What cartridge fits the B4600N?
The B4600N uses the 43502301 standard cartridge and the 43502001 high-yield cartridge — the same pair as the rest of the B4400-generation family. A fresh cartridge goes in as a quick front-loading swap with no tools when prints fade or the printer reports toner out.
The B4600N says toner is low — how much longer can I print?
Longer than the warning suggests. Toner low means start planning, not stop printing: shake the cartridge for extra life, and have a fresh 43502001 or 43502301 on hand for when quality genuinely drops.
Should I buy the standard or high-yield cartridge for the B4600N?
Same printer, same fit — the difference is stamina. Heavier print volumes favor the high-yield 43502001 for its lower cost per page and fewer swaps; lighter, occasional use is served perfectly well by the standard cartridge.
