Frequently Asked Questions

My B4400 prints came out streaky even with a fresh toner cartridge — is this the part I need?

Very likely, yes. In the B4400 the toner cartridge and the drum unit are separate, and the drum — part number 43501901 — is what actually forms the image. When its surface wears, you get repeating lines, streaks and faded bands that a new toner cartridge cannot cure, because the toner itself is fine. Replacing the drum is the fix, and this listing is that drum, named for the B4400 at $70.25.

How many pages should I get from this drum?

Up to 25,000 pages. That is a long service interval — a B4400 drum normally works through several toner cartridges before it needs changing, so most owners replace it only a handful of times over the printer's life.

Which printers does this drum serve besides the B4400?

The same 43501901 drum is shared across the range: B4400 and B4400n, B4500 and B4500n, B4550 and B4550n, and B4600 and B4600n. This listing is titled for the B4400, but the part inside is the one drum for all eight models — handy if your office runs a mix of them.

Do I change the drum and the toner at the same time?

Only if both happen to be due. They wear on different clocks — toner is consumed by coverage, the drum by total pages and age — so the normal routine is to replace whichever one the printer is actually asking for. Changing a healthy toner cartridge just because the drum is due wastes the toner left in it.

What cover comes with it?

It is a compatible unit rather than a genuine Oki part, and it carries a one-year warranty plus one-year free returns; the details live on the shipping & returns page.

How fast can I get one, and who do I call with a question?

We dispatch from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, so most orders travel a short distance. Support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the rest of the Oki line is gathered on the Okidata brand page.
