Frequently Asked Questions

My MB451W MFP's prints have gone pale — will a fresh cartridge fix that?

If the fading has crept in gradually and the machine is also reporting low toner, then yes, in most cases a fresh cartridge restores full-density output — gradual, even fading is the classic signature of an emptying cartridge. Before swapping, you can buy a little time by removing the current cartridge and rocking it gently to redistribute the toner inside.

What if the pages are still pale after a new cartridge goes in?

Then the cartridge was probably not the cause. Sudden streaks, bands repeating down the page, or specks that appear in the same place on every sheet suggest the printer itself needs cleaning or service. A copy made from the glass will show the same fault if it is the machine, which is a quick way to check on an MFP.

How many pages should I expect from this cartridge?

Up to 1,500 at typical office coverage. Remember that on a multifunction, copying counts against the same cartridge — a morning of heavy copying can use as much toner as a day of printing. At $36.57 the rating translates to about 2.44 cents per page.

Is this an original Okidata cartridge or a compatible?

It is a compatible 44992405 cartridge, made to the same fit and page-yield specification but not an original-brand product. The practical differences are the price and who stands behind it: our one-year warranty and one-year free returns, detailed on the shipping & returns page, instead of the manufacturer's cover.

Can I keep a spare without it going stale?

Yes — sealed toner cartridges store well in a cool, dry cupboard for a long period. If your MB451W MFP is the office's only machine, a spare on the shelf (or a multi-pack, which drops the unit price to about $21.78) means a fade never becomes downtime.

How do I reach someone if I need help fitting it?

Support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and fitting is a two-minute, tool-free job most users handle themselves. Orders ship from our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses.
