Frequently Asked Questions

What toner does the Oki B401d use?

The B401d uses black toner in two yields: standard 44992401 and high-yield 44992402. The “D” indicates duplex printing — the toner options are the same as the base B401.

Standard 44992401 or high-yield 44992402 for the B401d?

Choose by volume: the high-yield 44992402 costs less per page and suits daily printing, while the standard 44992401 fits occasional use. Duplex printing does not change the math — two-sided pages use the same toner as two one-sided pages.

My B401d prints the first page fine, then fades — what causes that?

Fading after the first page often means the 44992401/44992402 cartridge is nearly empty — the first page uses residual toner on the drum, then output thins. Replace the cartridge; if a fresh cartridge still fades progressively, the printer's toner feed mechanism may need service.
