Frequently Asked Questions

How long will a 5-pack keep a shared MB451 MFP going?

Five cartridges at up to 1,500 pages each give you roughly 7,500 pages in total. On a shared multifunction that figure disappears faster than people expect, because copying consumes toner just like printing does. As a rough guide: a small team producing 750 printed and copied pages a month would work through the pack in about ten months.

What is the saving against buying cartridges one by one?

Bought singly, the 44992405 cartridge is $36.57, so five would cost $182.85. This pack is $108.88 — a saving of $73.97, bringing each cartridge down to about $21.78 and the cost per page from roughly 2.44 cents to about 1.45 cents. Nothing about the cartridges themselves changes; only the unit price does.

Should we swap in a fresh cartridge as soon as the low-toner warning appears?

Not necessarily. The warning is an estimate, and most cartridges print acceptably for a while after it shows. On a shared machine the sensible routine is: when the warning appears, note it; when output actually starts to fade, swap in the next cartridge from the pack. That way none of the 1,500-page rating is thrown away early.

Can different people in the office fit the spares, or does it need a technician?

Anyone can do it — the MB451 MFP is designed for user replacement, and the job takes a couple of minutes with no tools. Keeping the remaining sealed cartridges in a known drawer, with a note of how many are left, is usually all the "system" a small office needs.

Do the unopened cartridges deteriorate while waiting their turn?

Kept sealed, in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight, toner cartridges store well for extended periods. Avoid garages and boiler rooms where heat cycles are extreme, and use the oldest cartridge first so stock rotates naturally.

What backs these cartridges if one misbehaves?

They are compatible cartridges, and every one carries a one-year warranty plus one-year free returns under the terms on our shipping & returns page. Parcels leave from whichever of our warehouses — IL, PA, GA or CA — is positioned to reach you fastest, and the support line runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
