WF-7820 Ink Cartridges — The 812XL Shelf

The WF-7820 shares its cartridge documentation with the WF-7840 in Epson's own Start Here guide: the cartridge table shows 812 and 812XL in all four colors, plus 812XXL for black only. Our products are the XL half of that table — T812XL120 black, T812XL220 cyan, T812XL320 magenta and T812XL420 yellow at 1,100 pages per cartridge (ISO/IEC 24711), DURABrite Ultra pigment — because the compatible ladder for this family is built on XL. Epson's US sources do not publish a verified standard-color yield for this family, so we print no standard-color figure rather than borrowing one.

Nothing here fits an 822 printer: the WF-3820 class takes 822 cartridges in the US, and the two families are the costliest mix-up on this shelf. Read the badge and the cartridge code before ordering — if it does not start with 812, you are on the wrong page.

Which 812XL should you buy?

One color ran out: replace just that color — black, cyan, magenta and yellow singles — black $25.49, cyan $22.49, magenta $22.49, yellow $22.49.
Full refresh: the Set of 4 ($83.94) replaces all four positions in one box.
Stocked shelf: the Set of 9 ($175.37) stocks three blacks and two of each color — the pattern wide-format offices actually consume.

Chip, ink and everyday use

These cartridges are chipped, and the chip question deserves a straight answer on this page too: a new compatible chip reports ink levels to the printer, and Epson's own documentation warns that firmware updates may affect third-party ink. Turning off automatic firmware updates is the practical step we recommend in the product questions. The DURABrite Ultra pigment ink keeps wide-format prints crisp and dry to the touch. Lifetime warranty on every cartridge; free returns within the first year. The four packs change independently, one color at a time. Singles, the Set of 4, or the black-heavy Set of 9 — with 1-year free returns on every product on this page.
