WorkForce WF-5690

The WorkForce Pro WF-5690 prints with the Epson 786 family — four individual DURABrite Ultra pigment cartridges. WF-5690 Ink — 786XL, Chipped, Stated Plainly

The WF-5690 closes the family's model list the way the WF-4630 opened it: Epson's compatibility data places it in the same six-model 786/786XL roster, and in the four-model T788XXL subset. Our products are the XL tier only — T786XL120 black up to 2,600 pages, T786XL220 cyan, T786XL320 magenta and T786XL420 yellow up to 2,000 pages each (ISO/IEC 24711), DURABrite Ultra pigment — because that is the tier the compatible ladder is built on.

Nothing on this page is an XXL product, and that is a supply fact, not a fitment denial: T788XXL fits this model in Epson's data, but no compatible version exists in the LD ladder, so the code appears here only as a boundary marker. Likewise the standard 786 tier appears only as codes to match against — its official yield was not verified, so no number is attached to it.

Which 786XL should you buy?

One colour ran out: replace just that colour — black, cyan, magenta and yellow singles are $19.49 each.
Full refresh: the Set of 4 ($67.44) replaces all four positions in one box.

Chip, ink and everyday use

Every cartridge carries a new compatible chip, so the printer reads ink levels normally; a one-time on-screen confirmation is the printer checking a non-Epson cartridge, not an error. Epson's own manuals for this family warn that a firmware update can stop a non-Epson cartridge that worked before it — reseat and restart first if a warning follows an update. The ink is DURABrite Ultra pigment: documents come out dry, resist smudging and hold up to handling. Lifetime warranty on every cartridge, with free returns for the first year. One shelf serves all six models in this family, so a spare set bought for this printer is not stranded if the office fleet changes within the family.
