Document black, in the tier these printers actually live on: our compatible T786XL120-S carries DURABrite Ultra pigment ink rated up to 2,600 pages (ISO/IEC 24711). The 786 family is a four-colour individual-cartridge line — the print head is the printer's own PrecisionCore head, and each cartridge is an ink tank with a level chip, replaced colour by colour.

The code discipline on this page matters. The standard-capacity sibling of this cartridge is T786120-S and the XL code is T786XL120-S; both tiers fit the same slots, and our shelf stocks the XL tier, including T786XL220-S cyan (up to 2,000 pages), T786XL320-S magenta (up to 2,000 pages), T786XL420-S yellow (up to 2,000 pages). No page yield is printed for the standard tier here, because its official yield could not be verified in Epson's US documentation — a seller figure is not treated as proof. A separate warning: T788XXL codes belong to only four of this family's models and are not this cartridge, not an upgrade for it, and not part of our range. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — reseat the cartridge and restart the printer before assuming it is at fault.
It fits all six verified 786-family models — WF-4630, WF-4640, WF-5110, WF-5190, WF-5620 and WF-5690. The T788XXL boundary is worth repeating from the fit side: WF-4630 and WF-4640 do not take XXL cartridges at all, and even on the four models that do, this XL cartridge is the product on this page. Nothing here fits EcoTank bottle printers or other Epson cartridge families. Covered by our lifetime warranty, with free returns for the first year.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many pages does the T786XL120 print?
Up to 2,600 pages, Epson's published rating for the genuine XL cartridge on the ISO/IEC 24711 pattern. Your mileage follows coverage and cleaning cycles — text work tracks the rating most closely.
Is this the standard 786 or the 786XL?
The XL — the high-capacity tier. Its code is T786XL120-S; the standard cartridge for this colour is T786120-S, and the two tiers share the same slot in every model on this page. We stock the XL tier, and we do not print a yield for the standard tier because its official US figure could not be verified.
Which printers does it fit?
All six verified 786 models: WF-4630, WF-4640, WF-5110, WF-5190, WF-5620 and WF-5690. Each takes the same 786 and 786XL code set, confirmed in Epson's own cartridge documentation.
Will this cartridge be recognised by my printer?
This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur; reseat the cartridge until it clicks and restart the printer before assuming the cartridge is faulty. We do not promise recognition under every future firmware version — a recognition problem that cannot be cleared is covered by our lifetime warranty.
Why is black rated 2,600 while the colours are rated 2,000?
That split is Epson's own XL rating for this family: black works hardest on document printers, so its high-capacity cartridge carries the higher figure. Both figures are on the ISO/IEC 24711 pattern, and both are per cartridge.
My printer says the cartridge is not recognised. What now?
Power the printer off, remove the cartridge, check the chip contacts are clean and dry, reseat it firmly, and power back on. If a firmware update came just before the message, that is the likely trigger — contact us and we will work through it under the lifetime warranty. Turning off automatic firmware updates is the practical step many offices take with compatible cartridges.
What ink is inside?
DURABrite Ultra pigment ink — the ink type Epson specifies for the whole 786 family in all four colours. Pigment ink is what gives these WorkForce Pro printers their smudge-, water- and fade-resistant documents.
Is this a genuine Epson cartridge?
No — it is a Clever Supplies compatible cartridge built to the T786XL120-S specification and labelled compatible on the box and on this page. It is not manufactured by Epson.
Can I use a T788XXL cartridge instead of this one?
No, and the distinction matters. T788XXL is a separate code set that fits only four models in this family — WF-5110, WF-5190, WF-5620 and WF-5690 — and never the WF-4630 or WF-4640. We do not sell a compatible T788XXL, and this T786XL120-S page makes no XXL claim.
How much ink is in it, in millilitres?
We do not publish a figure: Epson's official documentation for this family does not give a millilitre volume that we could verify, so the Volume field is left blank rather than filled with a reseller's number. The verifiable figure is the ISO page yield.
How do I install it?
Remove the spent cartridge for this colour, unpack the new one only when you are ready, do not touch the chip contacts, press the cartridge into its colour holder until it clicks, close the cover, and let the printer charge the ink before printing.
How should I store a spare?
Sealed in its vacuum pack, upright, at room temperature and out of direct sunlight, and opened only on install day. No specific shelf-life figure is published for this product, so none appears in its specifications.
