Frequently Asked Questions

The yellow in our company logo prints almost white — is this cartridge finished?

Very likely close to it. A strong brand yellow is one of the purest tests of the yellow supply: it is printed from this cartridge nearly undiluted, so any shortfall shows immediately as a washed-out, chalky version of the colour. When the logo's yellow goes pale while the rest of the page still passes, the 006R01700 is at the end of its useful life for brand work.

Our brochure gold has turned dull and slightly pink — same story?

Yes, and it is a useful tell. Gold is not printed from a gold cartridge; it is built from a rich measure of yellow with some magenta. Starve the yellow and the magenta shows through, leaving gold looking muddy, brownish or faintly pink. If the golds in your proofs have lost their lustre, check the 006R01700 before you question the artwork or the paper.

How should we proof-check before a client-facing run?

Print one sheet of the actual brand artwork and look at it in daylight, not under office fluorescents, which flatter tired colours. Compare the logo yellow and any gold elements against a sheet printed when the cartridge was fresh. If the warmth has drained away, swap in the new 006R01700 first — proofing on a fading cartridge wastes more paper than the swap costs.

Why does marketing work consume this cartridge ahead of schedule?

Coverage. The 15,000-page rating for the 006R01700 assumes 5 percent of the page is covered; a brochure page with full-colour backgrounds, photography and brand panels can cover most of the sheet, and an A3 sheet carries about twice the area of a letter page. Plan brand and campaign work on the assumption that real consumption runs well ahead of the headline rating.

For brand work, change at the warning or run the cartridge dry?

Change at the warning. Internal drafts tolerate a fading yellow; a client's brand colour does not. The ALTALINK C8045 will keep printing as the 006R01700 declines, but yellows and golds drift gradually enough that a whole batch can be subtly wrong before anyone notices. A fresh cartridge at the warning is cheap insurance for colour you are judged on.

What cover and delivery are included?

The cartridge is backed by a one-year warranty, with free returns for a full year — terms are on our shipping and returns page. We dispatch from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST. The wider range is listed on the Xerox toner page.
