Frequently Asked Questions
Why do our reds look orange and skin tones look off — is magenta running low?
That is the classic signature of a fading magenta cartridge. Reds lose their depth and slide toward orange, and faces in photos take on a greenish, unhealthy cast because magenta is what balances them. Swap in a fresh magenta cartridge, let the machine calibrate, and both problems usually disappear immediately — no settings need to change.
What printing burns through magenta the fastest?
Marketing material: flyers, brochures, product photos, and anything with warm brand colors or people in it. A month of heavy promotional printing can use magenta at several times the rate of a normal document month. If your office produces its own marketing pieces, magenta is the color cartridge to keep a spare of.
What does a magenta page cost, realistically?
The cartridge is $82.55 rated at 15,000 pages, which is about 0.55 cents per page at the 5% coverage standard. Photo-heavy pages use far more than 5% coverage, so on marketing work your true cost per page will be higher — that is true of any toner, but worth knowing when you budget a print run.
Is this the magenta cartridge for our machine?
It is, if your machine belongs to Ricoh Aficio MP C3002 and MP C3502, the Aficio MP C3002 / C3502 platform: its magenta cartridge number is 841278, within the 8412 family this listing is named for. The same magenta design serves every model on the platform, so matching the number on your current cartridge — 841278 — is all the confirmation you need.
Can we keep printing in black while we wait for a replacement magenta?
Yes. With magenta empty the machine will still print and copy in black and white; only color jobs are held up. So an empty magenta never stops the office — order the replacement, keep working in monochrome, and install it when it arrives from whichever of our IL, PA, GA, or CA warehouses is closest to you.
What if the new cartridge prints poorly right out of the box?
Then it is on us. The cartridge carries a 1-year warranty and returns are free for a full year under the policy on our shipping & returns page. Contact us Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST, describe what you are seeing, and we will send a replacement or refund you — whichever you prefer.
