Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the cyan always seem to run out while magenta and yellow still show plenty left?

It is not your imagination, and it is rarely a faulty cartridge. Most office color work leans blue: company logos, hyperlinks, charts, skies in photos, and the blue-heavy graphics in presentations all draw far more cyan than the other two colors. Magenta and yellow get used more evenly, so on an MP C3001 or MP C3501 the cyan is simply the hardest-working cartridge in the machine and reaches empty first. That is exactly why this single exists — so you can replace the one color that is actually gone instead of buying a full set you do not need yet.

What does 15,000 pages actually mean for a single cyan cartridge?

The 15,000-page rating is measured at the industry-standard 5% page coverage, which is roughly a page of text with a small graphic. Real-world cyan use varies a lot: a text page with a blue letterhead might use very little, while a full-page photo of a lake can use several times the standard amount. At $82.55 for up to 15,000 standard pages, the math works out to roughly 0.55 cents per page at rated coverage — heavy photo printing will land higher, everyday office documents usually lower.

Will my colors look unbalanced if I install a fresh cyan next to older magenta and yellow cartridges?

In normal office printing, no. Each color is metered and delivered independently, so a new cyan restores the blue channel to full strength without changing how the other two print. If your magenta and yellow are genuinely near the end of their life, overall color can look slightly tired no matter which single cartridge is new — that is the older cartridges fading, not the new one misbehaving. The machine's built-in calibration routine, run from the maintenance menu, evens out density across all four channels after a swap.

Is this the right cartridge for my machine?

This cyan cartridge is made for Ricoh Aficio MP C3001 and MP C3501. It is a single-color cartridge: it fills the cyan slot only, and the black, magenta, and yellow positions each take their own cartridge. Black is sold separately and is not included with this listing. If your machine is a different model than the ones named here, match the cartridge code 841423 against your current cartridge's label before ordering — the code matters more than the color of the box.

What happens if the cartridge arrives damaged or my printer rejects it?

Every compatible cartridge we sell is covered by a 1-year warranty together with 1-year free returns, so a cartridge that arrives damaged, leaks, or simply will not print right goes back without costing you anything. The full terms are on our shipping and returns page. If you hit a problem, support is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and a person who knows these machines will walk through the issue with you before anything is sent back.

How should I store the cartridge if I am buying it as a shelf spare?

Keep it sealed in its bag, stored flat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources — a supply cabinet in the office is ideal. Sealed toner cartridges keep well for a long time, so buying one cyan ahead of the low-toner warning is a sensible habit for this platform, since cyan is predictably the first color to go. When you install it, give the cartridge a gentle side-to-side rock to distribute the toner evenly, and avoid touching the green drum surface.
