Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this 2 pack work out cheaper per cartridge than buying singles?

Bought one at a time, the 46490604 black cartridge is $36.95. In this 2 pack the price is $55.40 for two, which brings each cartridge down to $27.70. Multi-packs cost less to pack and ship per unit, and that saving is passed on in the per-cartridge price rather than kept as margin.

How much do I actually save against two single cartridges?

Two singles would cost $73.90. This pack is $55.40, so you save $18.50 — and every cartridge in the pack is the same 7,000-page 46490604 cartridge, so nothing about the product itself changes. You are simply paying less per cartridge for buying the spare at the same time.

How many pages does the whole pack give me?

Each cartridge is rated at up to 7,000 pages, so the pack holds up to 14,000 pages of black printing in total. On a cost basis that is roughly 0.40 cents per page, down from about 0.53 cents per page when the same cartridge is bought singly. For a C532 that prints steadily, that is a long stretch of printing from one order.

Should I install both cartridges at once?

No — the printer takes one black cartridge at a time. Install the first, and keep the second sealed in its box as your spare. When the first runs out, the replacement is already on your shelf, so there is no gap in printing while you wait for a delivery.

Are both cartridges in the pack covered the same way?

Yes. Both 46490604 cartridges carry the same one-year warranty, and the order is covered by free returns for one year, as set out on our shipping and returns page. Keeping the spare sealed until you need it is the best way to store it.

Which printers does this 2 pack serve?

The 46490604 cartridge fits the Okidata C532 and C532DN printers plus the MC573 and MC573DN multifunction models. If your office runs more than one of those machines, the same pack can supply all of them, which makes stocking simpler. The wider range is on our Okidata toner page.
