Frequently Asked Questions

Which cyan cartridge does the 5500hdn use?

C9731A, the cyan of the 645A family. The hdn configuration adds hard-disk storage and networking for heavy-duty work; it does not change the supply, which is confirmed by the code on the cartridge itself.

We reprint the same poster and brochure jobs from stored files all month. How does that affect cyan use?

Stored jobs make consumption predictable — and relentless. Every reprint of a blue-heavy poster draws the same cyan as the first run, so a job repeated twenty times spends like twenty jobs. The gauge, checked weekly, tells you the date of the next swap more honestly than any schedule.

What yield should production planning assume?

The rating is 12,000 pages at standard coverage, but production graphics are rarely standard coverage. If your stored jobs are full-color posters, plan on the rating as a ceiling and let the supplies log from the last cartridge set the real reorder point.

How do we spot a tiring cartridge in the middle of a long run?

Watch the blues across the run: a slow drift toward purple or a sky that loses depth is cyan emptying. Catch it on sheet fifty rather than sheet five hundred by pulling a proof every so often on long stored jobs.

Where should the spare live in a production room?

At the machine, sealed, with the rule that installing the spare triggers the reorder. On an hdn that runs stored jobs all day, a cartridge rarely empties at a convenient moment — the spare at arm's reach is what keeps a reprint queue moving.

What cover does the purchase include?

A 1-year warranty with 1-year free returns. Our team supports you Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, orders ship from warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, and the shipping and returns page sets out the terms.
