Frequently Asked Questions

Our MFP mostly scans documents. Does scanning use up this cartridge?

No. Scanning a page to a folder or email address involves no toner whatsoever. What consumes the W1470X cartridge is printing and copying — so a records office that digitises far more than it prints will find this cartridge lasts a very long time indeed.

How do I verify the 147X is what our machine needs?

Open the MFP's front door and read the label on the cartridge inside. If it shows the W1470X part number, this cartridge — sold under the 147X family name — is the correct replacement. The part number check works regardless of which department originally bought the machine, and regardless of which of the family's machines it is: the M634h, M635z and M636z multifunctions and the M610dn, M610n, M611dn, M611n, M611x, M612dn and M612x printers all verify the same way.

Copies are coming out faint while prints still look fine. Is the cartridge empty?

Not necessarily. Faint copies with healthy prints usually point at the scanner glass or a copy-quality setting rather than the toner supply, since both jobs share the same cartridge. Clean the glass first; if prints also fade, then the cartridge is nearing its end.

What yield should a records department expect?

The cartridge carries a 25,200-page rating based on standard test pages. A department whose output is mostly archived forms and the occasional print run will approach that figure comfortably, because its day-to-day scanning work draws nothing from the supply.

Walk me through fitting the new cartridge.

Open the front door, grip the old cartridge's handle and draw it straight out. Unpack the replacement, rock it gently end to end to loosen the toner, pull the sealing materials free, then slide it in until it clicks and close the door. The MFP is ready again in moments.

What happens if we have a problem with the cartridge?

You are protected by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns on every unit. Questions reach a real person Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST, and anything defective goes back without a restocking argument.

About This W1470X Cartridge for a Scan-Heavy Office

Where an HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M635z spends its days moving paper into digital archives, toner demand is modest but the machine still has to print perfectly when asked. This single 147X cartridge, rated at 25,200 pages and priced at $104.17, covers that occasional-but-critical print work for the long term; a department that prints more than it scans might prefer the standard-yield 147A (W1470A) single and its shorter cycle.

Your order is dispatched from the closest of our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and our shipping & returns page covers the delivery detail. The full line-up for this MFP family is in the HP catalogue section.
