Frequently Asked Questions

The LBP612Cdw prints grass that looks like the sea — what happened?

Your yellow gave up quietly. Green is printed as cyan plus yellow; with the 045HY in your LBP612Cdw depleted, the cyan prints alone and lawns, leaves and green charts all drift toward blue. It looks like a colour-profile problem, but nine times out of ten it is simply an empty yellow.

What does yellow cost per page on the LBP612Cdw?

The 045HY costs $33.64 and is rated at up to 2,200 pages, putting yellow at around 1.53 cents a page. On typical office colour that is a small line item — and because the cartridge lasts 2,200 pages, it is also a rarely repeated one.

Why does this listing show 2,200 pages when I have seen 1,300 quoted for Canon 045 yellow?

Both numbers exist. The 1,300 figure belongs to the standard 045Y; this listing is the Canon 045H high-yield 045HY at 2,200 pages. With both priced at $33.64, the high-yield is the one that keeps the LBP612Cdw out of the supplies cupboard longest.

Can the yellow be swapped without touching the other colours?

Yes. The LBP612Cdw meters the 045HC cyan, 045HM magenta, 045HY yellow and 045HBK black separately, and each cartridge lifts out on its own. Replace the one that is empty and leave the rest to finish their pages.

Is this cartridge an original Canon product?

It is a compatible 045HY built to the Canon 045H specification covering the LBP612Cdw, MF632Cdw and MF634Cdw. Compatible manufacture is what makes a $33.64 price possible at the full 2,200-page rating.

What if it does not perform as it should?

Every cartridge carries our 1-year warranty, and returns are free for the same year. The fine print is on the shipping and returns page; support is open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
