Frequently Asked Questions

Why do my blues start printing purple as this cartridge runs down?

A laser printer builds blue out of cyan plus magenta. As the 045HC empties, cyan's share of that mix fades first, so blues slide toward violet and greens lose their brightness and turn muddy. When skies, company logos and charts start drifting purple, the Canon 045H cyan is the cartridge to check before you blame the printer.

How many pages will I get from the 045HC?

The 045HC is rated at up to 2,200 pages. At $33.64 that works out to roughly 1.53 cents per page for the cyan part of your colour printing. Coverage is what moves the real number: a full-page photo drinks far more cyan than a letter with a small blue logo in the corner.

Is the 045HC the standard cyan or the high-yield one?

High-yield. The 045HC belongs to the Canon 045H family, while the standard sibling — plain 045C — is rated around 1,300 pages. The two happen to sit at the same $33.64 price here, so in this case the H cartridge simply hands you roughly 900 extra pages for identical money.

Which printers take the Canon 045H cyan?

The 045 family was built for Canon's imageCLASS LBP612Cdw, MF632Cdw and MF634Cdw colour laser machines. If your printer's manual or old cartridge box says Canon 045 anywhere on it, this 045HC is the high-yield cyan that belongs in the cyan slot.

What are the matching cartridges for the other three slots?

Magenta is the 045HM, yellow is the 045HY and black is the 045HBK, all from the same Canon 045H high-yield line. Running the full H set keeps the four yields in step, so one colour is not constantly running dry ahead of the others.

What happens if this cartridge gives me trouble?

It is covered by our 1-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year if it is not right for your machine. The full wording lives on our shipping and returns page, and our support team answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
