Frequently Asked Questions

Why did nobody notice this cartridge running out until the prints looked wrong?

Because yellow is the quietest colour in the box. The 045HY can fade for weeks without an obvious symptom — yellows are pale to begin with — and the first real clue is usually greens turning blue, because green needs yellow to exist. By the time highlights look cold and grass looks teal, the Canon 045H yellow has been emptying for a while.

How many pages does the 045HY last?

Up to 2,200 pages. At $33.64 that is about 1.53 cents per page for yellow. Since yellow hides inside greens, oranges and every warm tone, it gets used even on pages that do not look yellow at all — which is exactly why it surprises people.

Is the 045HY standard or high-yield?

High-yield — the 045HY is the yellow of the Canon 045H family. The standard sibling, 045Y, is rated near 1,300 pages, and it is priced at the same $33.64, so the H version gives you the longer life for no extra outlay.

Which printers run this cartridge?

The Canon 045H family belongs to the imageCLASS LBP612Cdw, MF632Cdw and MF634Cdw. If one of those is asking for yellow, the 045HY is the high-yield cartridge that answers.

What are the companion cartridges called?

Cyan is 045HC, magenta is 045HM and black is 045HBK. Like the yellow, each is replaced on its own when its turn comes — there is no need to pull a healthy cartridge just because its neighbour ran out.

What cover backs this compatible cartridge?

A 1-year warranty and free returns for a year. You will find the complete policy on our shipping and returns page, and real people on support Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This Canon 045HY Yellow Toner Cartridge

This compatible Canon 045HY is the high-yield yellow of the Canon 045H family: up to 2,200 pages for $33.64, roughly 1.53 cents a page. Yellow is the cartridge nobody watches, yet it holds up half the colour wheel — every green, orange and warm highlight — so a fresh 045HY is what cures the mysterious blue-green shift in tired output. We deliver from warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California. The rest of the family is listed in the Canon range at Clever Supplies.
