Frequently Asked Questions

Colour copies on our MF632Cdw have gone cold and blue — which cartridge is responsible?

Yellow, most likely. The MF632Cdw copies with the same toner it prints with, and when the 045HY fades, everything warm loses its warmth: greens shift blue, cream paper tones print white-blue, oranges go rusty-pink. Because yellow itself is pale, the cartridge never looks like the problem — its absence shows up in every colour except yellow.

How long will the 045HY run in the MF632Cdw?

It is rated at up to 2,200 pages for prints and copies combined. At $33.64 the yellow works out near 1.53 cents a page. A multifunction in daily use spreads that yield across a lot of small jobs, so most offices change this cartridge a couple of times a year at most.

What separates this from the standard Canon 045 yellow?

About 900 pages. This 045HY is the Canon 045H high-yield at 2,200 pages; the standard 045Y is rated around 1,300. They cost the same $33.64, so per page the high-yield is the cheaper cartridge by a clear stretch.

Which printer is this page about?

The Canon imageCLASS MF632Cdw. The 045HY on it is the shared yellow for the whole Canon 045H family, so the identical cartridge also serves the LBP612Cdw and MF634Cdw.

Do the other colours need changing when yellow does?

No. Keep the 045HC cyan, 045HM magenta and 045HBK black in place until the MF632Cdw asks for them by name. Pulling a part-used cartridge early only shortens its useful life.

What warranty comes with this compatible cartridge?

A 1-year warranty and a year of free returns, with the full terms on our shipping and returns page. If you want help diagnosing a colour fault first, support answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
