Frequently asked questions

What toner does the Brother MFC-L5710DW use?

The Brother MFC-L5710DW uses TN920 standard-yield (approx. 3,000 pages), TN920XL high-yield (approx. 6,000 pages) and TN920XXL super high-yield (approx. 11,000 pages) and TN920UXXL ultra high-yield (approx. 18,000 pages) black toner cartridges, plus the DR920 drum unit (approx. 45,000 pages).

What is the difference between the TN920, TN920XL, TN920XXL and TN920UXXL?

All four fit the MFC-L5710DW. The TN920XL (also written TN-920XL) is the high-yield version (about 6,000 pages) and the TN920XXL is the super high-yield version (about 11,000 pages) — both lower your cost per page compared to the standard TN920 (about 3,000 pages). The TN920UXXL is the ultra high-yield version (about 18,000 pages). If you print regularly, step up to the XL or XXL.

Does the Brother MFC-L5710DW need a drum unit?

Yes. The MFC-L5710DW uses the Brother DR920 drum unit (also listed as DR-920), rated for about 45,000 pages. Replace it when print quality degrades — streaks, spots or faded prints — even if toner remains.

Are compatible TN920 toner cartridges safe for my Brother MFC-L5710DW?

Yes. Our compatible cartridges are engineered to meet or exceed Brother's specifications and are backed by a lifetime warranty. Using compatible cartridges does not void your printer's warranty.

Which cartridge is the best value for heavy printing?

For the heaviest printing, the TN920UXXL ultra high-yield cartridge (about 18,000 pages) gives the MFC-L5710DW its lowest cost per page. For occasional printing, the standard TN920 is the most economical upfront.
