Brother MFC-L5710DN Toner Cartridges

MFC-L5710DN

One device, one shelf: the Brother MFC-L5710DN handles an office’s printing, scanning and faxing from a single cartridge system. The toner side is a four-tier ladder — the standard-yield TN920 (TN-920) (about 3,000 pages), high-yield TN920XL (TN-920XL) (about 6,000 pages), super high-yield TN920XXL (TN-920XXL) (about 11,000 pages) and ultra high-yield TN920UXXL (TN-920UXXL) (about 18,000 pages). The imaging side is the separate DR920 (DR-920) drum unit, replaced on its own much longer cycle. Both halves of the system are stocked in the listings below.

An all-in-one becomes the office’s default destination for everything paper-shaped, and the MFC-L5710DN is no exception: print jobs from every desk, scans for the file, faxes for the outside world. That centrality makes a toner outage unusually disruptive — nobody’s work routes around it easily — and it is why this page emphasizes the deep end of the cartridge ladder and the multi-packs that keep the next cartridge already in the building. The drum, quietly outlasting cartridge after cartridge, completes a supply plan built around never thinking about supplies.

Which cartridge should you buy?

For a machine the whole office leans on, err high on the ladder. The TN920XXL (about 11,000 pages) is the working default for most MFC-L5710DN installations, and the TN920UXXL (about 18,000 pages) — the lowest cost per page here — suits machines that print and copy all day. The TN920XL (about 6,000) fits a small team’s lighter rhythm, while the standard TN920 (about 3,000) is best kept as the shelf spare. Buy the main tier as a 2-pack or 4-pack so a change never waits on shipping, and fold in a DR920 drum set when the drum’s turn approaches. Our compatible cartridges for this model carry a 1-year warranty and 1-year returns, and genuine Brother versions are stocked alongside.

Chip, toner and everyday use

The MFC-L5710DN uses the chip on each cartridge to confirm the TN920 tier and estimate remaining toner across all of its functions. A new cartridge should click into the DR920 drum and register immediately; if it does not, reseat it in the drum before reinstalling the assembly. Fading output as a cartridge empties usually responds to a gentle rock that levels the toner. Quoted yields rest on about 5% coverage, so fax pages, copies and dense reports will vary the real count. Spare cartridges store best sealed, flat and out of direct light, and the drum’s light-sensitive green surface should be neither touched nor left exposed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What toner does the Brother MFC-L5710DN take?

The TN920 ladder: TN920 (about 3,000 pages), TN920XL (about 6,000), TN920XXL (about 11,000) and TN920UXXL (about 18,000), all printing through the separate DR920 drum unit stocked on this page.

Do printing, copying and faxing all use the same cartridge in the MFC-L5710DN?

Yes. Every function draws on the same TN920 cartridge and DR920 drum, so a single stocked shelf — ideally with a high-yield cartridge fitted and a spare in reserve — covers the whole machine.

Which cartridge is the best value for the MFC-L5710DN?

By cost per page, the TN920UXXL (about 18,000 pages) leads the range, and it also minimizes changes on a machine the whole office depends on. The TN920XXL is the middle path most offices choose.

What is in the drum and toner sets for the MFC-L5710DN?

Fixed pairings of a DR920 drum with TN920-family toner — one, two or three toners with one drum, or two toners with two drums — for replacing both halves of the supply system in a single order.
