Frequently Asked Questions

Our whole floor prints through one shared WorkCentre — how long will one black cartridge realistically last?

Turn the rating into paper first: the 006R01395 is rated at 25,000 pages, which is roughly fifty reams of paper from a single cartridge. A department copying and printing about 2,000 pages a month can expect close to a year from it; at 4,000 pages a month it lasts around six months; a genuinely busy workgroup pushing 8,000 pages a month will work through one in about three months. Those figures assume the standard 5% page coverage behind every yield rating — a floor that prints dense contracts, full-page scans and report covers all day will land below them, while a floor printing mostly short memos can land above.

We print mostly in color — why does the black cartridge still run down?

Because black does far more work in a color machine than most people expect. Body text inside color documents is printed with black toner, dark areas of images are built partly from black, and the machine uses black during its internal calibration cycles. On top of that, every black-and-white copy or fax-style job draws on the same cartridge. So even on a WorkCentre that feels like a "color printer," the 006R01395 empties steadily in the background — which is why it can reach empty in the middle of a week when nobody remembers ordering a black cartridge.

Which printers does this cartridge fit?

The 006R01395 black cartridge serves the WorkCentre 7425, 7428 and 7435 lines, including their FB, FBX, FL, FLX, FX, R, RB, RBX, RL, RLX and RX variants: WorkCentre 7425, WorkCentre 7425 FB, WorkCentre 7425 FBX, WorkCentre 7425 FL, WorkCentre 7425 FLX, WorkCentre 7425 FX, WorkCentre 7425 R, WorkCentre 7425 RB, WorkCentre 7425 RBX, WorkCentre 7425 RL, WorkCentre 7425 RLX, WorkCentre 7425 RX, WorkCentre 7428, WorkCentre 7428 FB, WorkCentre 7428 FBX, WorkCentre 7428 FLX, WorkCentre 7428 FX, WorkCentre 7428 R, WorkCentre 7428 RB, WorkCentre 7428 RBX, WorkCentre 7428 RL, WorkCentre 7428 RLX, WorkCentre 7428 RX, WorkCentre 7435, WorkCentre 7435 FB, WorkCentre 7435 FBX, WorkCentre 7435 FL, WorkCentre 7435 FLX, WorkCentre 7435 FX, WorkCentre 7435 R, WorkCentre 7435 RB, WorkCentre 7435 RBX, WorkCentre 7435 RL and WorkCentre 7435 RLX. If the cartridge coming out of your machine is stamped 006R01395, this is the right replacement.

Prints are coming out faded with a light grey haze — is this cartridge finished?

Evenly faded output across the whole page is the classic end-of-life sign for a black cartridge: there is simply not enough toner left to lay down a solid fill. Rocking the 006R01395 gently side to side a few times redistributes what remains and usually buys a short run of acceptable pages, but treat that as a bridge while the replacement ships, not a fix. If new toner goes in and the haze stays, the cause sits elsewhere in the machine — but nine times out of ten on a high-mileage cartridge, fading that arrives gradually is just the cartridge telling you it is done.

What does a printed page cost with this cartridge?

The arithmetic is simple: $43.94 spread over the 25,000-page rating works out to roughly 0.18 cents per page for black toner. That is the rated figure at 5% coverage; a page packed with bold headings, shaded tables and scanned images uses more toner and costs a little more, while a page of plain correspondence costs less. For a shared departmental machine, that sub-quarter-cent figure is the number worth comparing when you budget consumables across a quarter.

What cover do I get if the cartridge fails early?

Every cartridge we sell is backed by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, so a unit that arrives damaged or gives up long before its rating is covered — the full terms are on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and if you want a hand confirming the code before you order, our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This 006R01395 Black Cartridge

This is a single compatible black toner cartridge carrying the 006R01395 code, built for the WorkCentre 7425, 7428 and 7435 families in our Xerox range. It is rated at 25,000 pages and priced at $43.94 — about 0.18 cents a page — which suits it to shared machines that print and copy all day. The code is printed on the cartridge label, so when the panel warns of low black toner, read the code off the outgoing unit and reorder the same number with confidence.
