Frequently Asked Questions

Why does our SCX-3405F use toner on days when nobody prints?

Because incoming faxes are printed pages. The SCX-3405F answers the line and prints what arrives, day or night, so junk faxes, statements and after-hours orders all draw on the same MLT-D101S cartridge as your own printing. A machine on a busy fax line can work through a noticeable share of its 1,500-page rating without anyone touching the print button.

How long should one cartridge last on a fax-active SCX-3405F?

Budget from your combined pace, not your print pace. If the machine prints fifty pages a week for the office and receives another fifty in faxes, the cartridge's 1,500 pages last about fifteen weeks. Counting only the pages you send to it yourself is the classic way to be surprised by an empty cartridge.

What does a page cost on this machine with this cartridge?

About 2.18 cents of toner, printed or faxed — $32.73 buys the same 1,500 rated pages either way. If the fax line is heavy and cartridges turn over quickly, the five-cartridge pack of this same MLT-D101S brings the figure down towards 1.2 cents a page.

Can we stop fax traffic wasting toner?

Partly. The cartridge cannot choose what the machine prints, but most fax waste is junk — if your SCX-3405F supports fax-to-email or a junk-fax block list, routing faxes electronically is the real saving. What the cartridge side can promise is that the rating is honest: 1,500 pages at standard coverage, however those pages arrive.

Does this cartridge fit our other Samsung machines?

It fits every model in the MLT-D101S family: the ML-2165W and the SCX machines — 3400F, 3400FW, 3405, 3405FW and 3405W. One spare on the shelf can therefore serve the fax machine and its stablemates alike.

What warranty and returns cover does this cartridge carry?

A warranty of a year and free returns for a year — if this cartridge leaks, streaks or fails early, it comes back to us at our expense. The terms sit on the shipping and returns page, and if you would rather talk it through, support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
