Frequently Asked Questions

Why stock five cartridges for an SCX-3400FW?

Because this machine's toner disappears through three doors at once — printing, copying and incoming faxes — and two of those doors are open when nobody is watching. Five MLT-D101S cartridges in the cupboard mean the machine never sits empty waiting for a delivery while faxes queue up unprinted. And since the pack prices each cartridge at $17.94 instead of $32.73, the insurance costs less than buying the same cartridges one at a time.

What is the effective cost per cartridge — and per page — in this pack?

The pack is $89.69, so each of the five cartridges effectively costs $17.94, and each of its 1,500 pages costs roughly 1.2 cents instead of the single-cartridge figure of about 2.18 cents. Against five singles at a total of $163.65, the pack saves $73.96 — money that comes straight off the running cost of everything the SCX-3400FW prints, copies or receives by fax.

How long should five cartridges keep a shared SCX-3400FW running?

The box holds 7,500 pages. A shared machine drawing a combined 750 pages a month across its three functions takes about ten months to finish it; a quieter one at 300 a month takes a little over two years. Size it by your total paper output rather than your print queue alone — on a multifunction, the copies and faxes are usually the difference between the estimate and the reality.

Can one pack serve as shared stock for several Samsung printers in the same department?

Yes. The pack's cartridges are standard MLT-D101S units, the shared cartridge for the ML-2165W, SCX-3400F, SCX-3405, SCX-3405FW and SCX-3405W as well as the SCX-3400FW. A department can draw from one box for every machine in the family, and the $17.94 effective cartridge price holds whichever printer takes the next unit.

How do we reorder with confidence that this — and not a similar-looking part — is what the SCX-3400FW takes?

Go by the code on the cartridge you remove. The SCX-3400FW takes the MLT-D101S, and that part number — not the model name in a listing's title — is the reliable identifier, because the same cartridge is sold under many model-led listings. Match MLT-D101S on the old label to MLT-D101S on the box and the question is settled before you order.

If we order the wrong pack, how long do we have to put it right?

A full year. Returns are free for twelve months and every cartridge carries a one-year warranty, so an ordering mistake or a faulty unit can be sent back at no cost — the terms are laid out on the shipping and returns page. We dispatch from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
