The WorkForce Pro WF-6090 prints from the Epson 748 ink pack family — four individual DURABrite Pro pigment packs. Our shelf is the XL tier: black (T748XL120) up to 5,000 pages, and cyan (T748XL220), magenta (T748XL320) and yellow (T748XL420) up to 4,000 pages each (ISO/IEC 24711), each pack with its green IC chip and our lifetime warranty.

WF-6090 Ink Packs — The 748XL Shelf

Epson's documentation for the WF-6090 lists three tiers of the same family — standard 748 (black 2,500 pages, colours 1,500 each), 748XL (black 5,000, colours 4,000 each) and 748XXL (black 10,000, colours 7,000 each), all on ISO/IEC 24711. Our compatible range is the middle tier, T748XL120 / T748XL220 / T748XL320 / T748XL420, sold as four individual XL packs; the page says so rather than dressing another tier up as XL.

These are ink packs, not home-office cartridges: the PrecisionCore print head is fixed in the printer, and each pack carries ink plus a green IC chip that tracks the level. For a machine in this class the pack is the economy — you replace ink and chip only, colour by colour, as the printer calls for them.

Matching the pack you remove is the whole job: read the tier on its label — 748, 748XL or 748XXL — then order the same colour in XL from this page; every tier figure quoted here comes from Epson's own documentation for the WF-6090.

Which 748XL should you buy?

  • Order colour by colour: black, cyan, magenta and yellow packs are $58.49 each — replace the single pack the printer calls for.
  • No set exists in this family: our 748 range is four individual XL packs. There is no four-pack set, and no compatible standard or XXL pack, in this range.

Chip, ink and everyday use

Each pack carries a green IC chip that tracks its level, and Epson's own ink pack documents carry the family's standing warning: a firmware update can stop a non-Epson pack that worked before it. Our packs carry new compatible chips; reseat and restart first if a warning ever follows an update. The PrecisionCore print head is fixed in the printer and never leaves it — a replacement is just the sealed pack. Lifetime warranty and 1-year free returns cover every pack.
