Expression Premium XP-6000

Epson Expression Premium XP-6000 printer

The Expression Premium XP-6000 prints with the Epson 302 cartridge family — five individual Claria Premium cartridges: a pigment black for text and four dye colours. The Clever Supplies compatible 302XL cartridges below are the high-capacity tier: black (T302XL020) up to 550 pages, cyan, magenta and yellow up to 650 pages each (ISO/IEC 24711), each with a new compatible chip and a lifetime warranty. Epson publishes no page yield for the photo black cartridge.

XP-6000 Ink — The 302XL Shelf

Epson's 302 fact sheet names the XP-6000 as this family's reference printer, and its product page lists replacement ink as 302 and 302XL in five individual cartridges. Our shelf carries the XL tier — the compatible ladder for this family is XL-only: T302XL020 pigment black, T302XL120 photo black and T302XL220 / T302XL320 / T302XL420 colours, at up to 550 pages for black and up to 650 per colour (ISO/IEC 24711), against 250 / 300 for the standard tier. Photo black carries no Epson-published ISO page yield; it is rated for photo printing.

Two name traps surround this model. First, the XP-6000 is not the XP-600: the older XP-600 belongs to the 273 family, its cartridges fit nothing here, and its XL black is even rated differently (500 pages against this family's 550). Second, nothing on this page is 312 ink — the 312 family belongs to the XP-15000 and XP-8500, a different Claria line entirely. And within the printer: code 020 is the pigment black your documents print with, code 120 the dye photo black — the two blacks are not interchangeable.

The same 302XL shelf serves the whole family roster — XP-6100 — so one cartridge list covers every model on it, and a spare bought for any of them fits the rest. The same split runs everyday printing on this family: the pigment black carries documents, the dye colours and photo black carry photographs, and each slot is replaced only when its own work runs it dry.

Which 302XL should you buy?

  • One slot ran out: black is $22.49; photo black, cyan, magenta and yellow are $16.49 each.
  • Full five-position reset: the Set of 5 ($79.43) replaces every cartridge in one box.
  • Stocked shelf: the Set of 11 ($148.34) carries three blacks, two photo blacks and two of each colour.

Chip, ink and everyday use

Each cartridge carries a new compatible chip for ink-level reporting. If a firmware update ever precedes a recognition warning, reseat the cartridge and restart before judging it. The split ink system is the everyday point: the pigment black keeps documents crisp, while the dye photo black and colours do the photo work — keep spares sealed until install day. Lifetime warranty and 1-year free returns cover every cartridge.
