How many pages does the T302XL020 print?

Up to 550 pages, Epson's published rating for the genuine cartridge on the ISO/IEC 24711 pattern. The standard 302 black (T302020-S) is rated 250 pages, so the XL more than doubles it.

Why does this family have two blacks?

They do different work. Code 020 — this cartridge — is pigment black for documents. Code 120 is dye photo black for photographs. The printer uses each in its place, and the two are not interchangeable.

Which printers take it?

The Expression Premium XP-6000 and XP-6100. It does not fit the older XP-600 or XP-610 — those are 273-family printers — and it is not a 312 cartridge.

What ink is inside?

Pigment black — the Claria Premium layout is one pigment black plus four dye colors, per Epson's fact sheet for this family. Pigment gives documents their smudge and water resistance.

Does it have a chip?

Yes — a new compatible chip that reports ink levels. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur; reseating the cartridge and restarting usually clears a false warning.
