Frequently Asked Questions

Which printers take it?

The Expression Premium XP-6000 and XP-6100 — the only two 302 printers. The older XP-600 and XP-610 are 273-family machines and take different cartridges.

How many pages does the T302XL220 print?

Up to 650 pages, Epson's published ISO/IEC 24711 rating for the genuine cartridge. Photo-heavy printing uses cyan faster than the rating's mixed pattern suggests, so treat it as a ceiling, not a promise.

Does it have a chip?

Yes — a new compatible chip for ink-level reporting. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur; reseating and restarting usually clears a false warning.

Is the ink dye or pigment?

Dye. In this family only the document black (020) is pigment; cyan, magenta, yellow and photo black are all Claria Premium dye inks.

My printer says the cartridge is not recognised. What now?

Power off, remove the cartridge, wipe the chip contacts dry, reseat until it clicks, and power back on. A firmware update just before the message is the usual trigger; if it persists, we replace under the lifetime warranty.

Is this the high-capacity version?

Yes, the XL: 650 pages against the standard T302220's 300. Our shelf for this family is XL-only, and the tier is printed on the box, not hidden in fine print.

Can I install just this one cartridge?

Yes — replace colours one at a time as they empty. There is no need to change the whole set when only cyan is low, and XL and standard tiers mix freely across slots.

How much ink is in it, in millilitres?

We don't publish a figure: Epson's US documentation does not state a millilitre volume for this family, so the Volume field is left blank rather than filled with a reseller's claim. The verifiable figure is the 650-page ISO yield.

Is it a genuine Epson cartridge?

No — it is a Clever Supplies compatible built to the T302XL220-S specification and labelled compatible on the box and this page. It is not manufactured by Epson.

What does the lifetime warranty cover?

Leaks, poor print from new, or a cartridge that stays unrecognised after troubleshooting — replaced under the lifetime warranty, with free returns inside the first year.

Why is cyan rated 650 but black only 550?

That is Epson's own rating split for the XL tier (black 550, colours 650 each). The standard tier shows the same shape at a smaller scale: black 250, colours 300 each.

Single or set?

The single when only cyan is low. If several positions are near empty, the Set of 5 (all XL) or the bulk Set of 11 costs less per cartridge — both linked from this page.
