Color Laser 2135CN

The Dell 2135CN is the multifunction member of this color laser family: one networked unit that prints, copies, scans and faxes, with a flatbed and an automatic document feeder for multi-page jobs. It runs at up to 12 pages per minute in color and 16 in monochrome, and it shares its sibling's most forgiving trait — when a color cartridge runs dry, black printing carries on regardless. The toner side is identical to the printer-only model: black 330-1436, cyan 330-1437, magenta 330-1433 and yellow 330-1438, each a high-yield cartridge ordered under its own number.

Think of the 2135CN as the machine a small office gathers around. It sits at the front desk or in the admin corner absorbing the day's paperwork — contracts to scan, forms to copy, the odd fax, and a steady stream of printed pages in between. Because copying and printing both draw on the same four cartridges, a busy 2135CN works its toner harder than a printer-only unit doing the same document volume, which makes keeping one spare black within reach a genuinely useful habit rather than a luxury.

Toner Cartridges for Dell 2135CN

Which cartridge should you buy?

Start from how the machine is actually used in your office. A 2135CN that spends its days copying and printing black-and-white paperwork will empty its black cartridge long before the colors, so the black 2 pack is the economical staple and colors can be ordered one at a time as each runs low. Offices that print color handouts or scan-to-print workflows regularly will cycle the colors faster, and a 4 color set becomes the cleaner restock when several cartridges are low together. Every cartridge here is the high-yield version, and each compatible cartridge carries a 1-year warranty with 1-year returns, so buying ahead for a shared machine is low-risk.

Chip, toner and everyday use

Only printed and copied pages consume toner on a multifunction unit — scanning a document to email or receiving a fax to memory costs nothing from the cartridges. When a replacement goes in, seat it fully so the printer registers the new unit; a cartridge that is not quite home is the usual cause of a persistent low-toner message. If output starts to fade on one color, lift that cartridge out and rock it gently from side to side to level the toner inside before assuming it is empty. Store spares sealed and flat, and write the purchase month on the box so the oldest stock gets used first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which toner cartridges does the Dell 2135CN take?

It uses the same four high-yield cartridges as the rest of this family: 330-1436 black, 330-1437 cyan, 330-1433 magenta and 330-1438 yellow. They are sold singly, in a black 2 pack, and in 4 color sets.

Does scanning or faxing use up toner?

No. Scanning sends an image electronically and uses no toner at all. Toner is only consumed when the 2135CN puts marks on paper — printing a file or copying a page.

Can the 2135CN keep working when a color cartridge is empty?

Yes, for black-and-white work. Like its printer-only sibling, the 2135CN continues printing in black when a color runs out, so the office is not held up waiting for a delivery.

Are the cartridges the same as the Dell 2130CN uses?

They are. The 2130CN and the 2135CN draw from the identical four-cartridge family, so an office running both machines keeps a single, shared toner shelf.
