Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this cartridge identified by the number 331-9795 rather than a printer name?

Because that is the number Dell's parts system assigns to it, and it is the number on reorder sheets, storeroom labels and last year's invoice long after the printer's marketing name has faded from memory. This listing is the number-first version: one black cartridge rated at up to 45,000 pages, priced at $132.41. If your paperwork says 331-9795, this is the cartridge it points to.

What makes a cartridge an "extra high yield" one?

Capacity. A standard department cartridge is spent in the low thousands of pages; this 331-9795 is rated at 45,000. That scale changes the job the cartridge does — instead of a consumable you swap every few weeks, it becomes a long-run supply that carries a production-class B5465 through months of heavy output between changes.

What does $132.41 work out to per rated page?

About 0.29 cents of toner per page. That is the quiet advantage of a cartridge this large: the per-page figure drops to a fraction of what small cartridges cost to run, because the 45,000-page rating spreads the purchase price across an enormous amount of printing.

Is this a genuine Dell cartridge?

No — it is a compatible 331-9795, manufactured by a third party to the same specification rather than by Dell. Judge it on what is stated here: the 45,000-page rating, the $132.41 price and the warranty set out below. The genuine version differs in the name on the box and the price attached to that name.

How do we know when a cartridge with this much life left is finally running low?

Watch the output, not a calendar. On a cartridge rated this high, the fade arrives gradually — prints lose density over days rather than stopping outright. The first pale pages are the signal to have the next cartridge on the shelf; gently rocking the cartridge side to side can redistribute the remaining toner and buy a little more time.

What protection comes with it if a cartridge lets us down early?

Every cartridge is covered by a 1-year warranty with 1-year free returns, and our support team is on hand Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. Full terms are on our shipping & returns page.
