Frequently Asked Questions

How can toner levels be checked on a 7400N without leaving your desk?

The N configuration is networked, and the printer reports its own supplies: open its status page in a browser — the address is the printer's network address — and all four levels are shown. A small office that glances at that page once a month will never be surprised by an empty cartridge, and can order this set while there is still toner in the machine.

What do the page ratings mean at small-office volumes?

The black 106R01080 is rated at up to 15,000 pages and the cyan 106R01077, magenta 106R01078 and yellow 106R01079 at up to 18,000 pages each, measured at 5% coverage. An office printing a few hundred color pages a month measures a set's life in seasons rather than weeks; an office printing color daily should expect the coverage on real pages — logos, charts, photos — to shorten the color figures noticeably.

What comes in the box?

Four high-yield cartridges, one for each slot: black 106R01080, cyan 106R01077, magenta 106R01078 and yellow 106R01079. That is the printer's complete toner load in a single box, with nothing else required.

Does this set fit the Phaser 7400N?

It does, and the rest of the platform with it: the Phaser 7400, Phaser 7400DFX, Phaser 7400DN, Phaser 7400DT and Phaser 7400DX, along with the DXF finisher configuration. The N only adds the network connection — the cartridge bay is identical across the range.

Should a small office keep a spare set on the shelf?

If the 7400N is the office's only color printer, yes — or at minimum, order the next set when the first position drops into its last stretch rather than when it empties. A stored set keeps best sealed in its box, in a dry cupboard out of direct sunlight, and waits there without complaint until it is needed.

What cover comes with the set, and how does it ship?

The set is backed by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns; full terms are on our shipping and returns page. We dispatch from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, from whichever is nearest you, and support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
