Frequently Asked Questions

Does two-sided printing change how fast the cyan runs down?

Yes, in a way that surprises people. The 18,000-page rating counts printed faces at standard coverage, and a duplexed sheet has two of them. A ten-sheet, two-sided brochure spends cyan like twenty pages of output, because every face carrying color draws its own layer. DN owners who move work in-house as finished two-sided pieces should expect the rating to behave like a count of sides, not sheets.

The name says "Cartridges," plural — is this a multi-pack?

It is not. One 106R01077 cyan cartridge is in the box, at $79.06. The Phaser 7400DN replaces colors one at a time, so this listing covers cyan only; the other colors are separate listings you order when their turn comes.

Why do DN machines seem to eat color faster than the base model?

Because the configuration invites the work. Duplex plus networking is the setup offices buy to produce finished documents — reports with color covers, double-sided handouts, presentation sets — instead of sending them out. More of the building's color lands on this printer, and cyan, as the base of blues and greens, is spent on nearly all of it.

Which printers share this cartridge?

All of the Phaser 7400 configurations: the Phaser 7400, Phaser 7400DFX, this listing's Phaser 7400DN, the Phaser 7400DT and the Phaser 7400DX, plus the 7400N. The DN's duplex unit changes how paper travels, never which cyan it drinks.

How do you check whether cyan is the weak color before a big two-sided run?

Print the machine's color test page and look at the blue and green bands: if they print pale or streaky while reds and yellows stay strong, cyan is the one running down. Checking first beats discovering it on side two of a finished stack, where the whole job has to be reprinted rather than a single sheet.

What coverage comes with the purchase?

A 1-year warranty with free returns for a full year, as set out on our shipping & returns page. Orders leave warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, support answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the full range for this family is gathered on the Xerox supplies page.
