Frequently Asked Questions

This machine does color-first work — how does that change toner planning?

A Phaser 7400 in a graphics or marketing environment earns its keep on color: presentations, proofs, charts and full-bleed pages where cyan, magenta and yellow do most of the work and black plays a supporting role. Planning follows that pattern. The colors are the positions to watch, and running one dry mid-run costs more than the cartridge — it costs the deadline the run was printed for.

How do the page ratings hold up under heavy color coverage?

The ratings — up to 15,000 pages for black and up to 18,000 pages for each color — are measured on the industry-standard page at 5% coverage. A page carrying a full-color photograph or a solid background uses several times that much toner, so a color cartridge's working life in a graphics shop is counted in jobs rather than in the headline number. Treat the ratings as the comparison scale between cartridges, and your own job mix as the calendar.

What is included in this 4 color set?

One high-yield cartridge per position: black 106R01080, cyan 106R01077, magenta 106R01078 and yellow 106R01079. Nothing else is needed to return the printer to a full load — open the box and all four slots can be filled in one session.

Which 7400 models is it made for?

Every configuration of the platform — the Phaser 7400, Phaser 7400DFX, Phaser 7400DN, Phaser 7400DT and Phaser 7400DX, plus the DXF finisher version. Trays, duplexing and finishers differ across those models; the cartridges do not.

Can the colors go in now and the black later?

Yes. Each position is independent, so the set can be fitted as a group or split across weeks — colors this Friday, black when its gauge actually runs low. Many shops fit the three colors together because they age together, and let the black follow its own schedule.

How is the set covered, and how fast does it ship?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns cover the set; the details live on our shipping and returns page. We dispatch from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, choosing the one nearest your address, and support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST for any question about the set.
