Frequently Asked Questions

Yellow is almost invisible on white paper — why does the printer need it at all?

Because invisibility is not the same as absence. Yellow is one of the three colors from which every other color on the page is mixed: add it to cyan and you get green, layer it under magenta and the reds deepen, warm it into a photograph and skin looks human instead of embalmed. The CLT-Y404S in an Xpress C480W does some of the heaviest lifting in the machine precisely because its own marks are the hardest to see — you only notice it when it is gone and the balance collapses.

Which everyday pages spend this yellow without us noticing?

More than most offices realise. The colored strip on your letterhead, the bars in a sales chart, the green tick on an invoice, the warm tones in a staff photo, the shaded rows of a spreadsheet — each draws a little yellow, and a day of ordinary paperwork adds up to a steady draw on the cartridge. That is why the level on a compact color printer falls even when nobody remembers printing anything particularly colourful.

Which machines take this cartridge?

The CLT-Y404S is the listed yellow supply for the Samsung Xpress C480W, and it also fits the Xpress C430, Xpress C430W and Xpress C480FW. Its companions in the 404S family are the CLT-K404S black and the cyan and magenta cartridges, each living in its own slot and each replaced on its own schedule as its level runs down.

How does the 1,000-page rating translate into real use?

The rating assumes the standard 5% coverage — light color on mostly-white pages. That is a fair match for the C480W's typical diet of documents with charts and logos, so a small office can expect something in the region of the rating, less if photographs and full-color pages feature often. The cartridge is small by design, and the honest way to manage it is to treat the low-toner warning as the reorder point rather than the finish line.

Is it worth keeping a spare of this color on the shelf?

For most C480W users, yes. A single cartridge is $76.50, and because the capacity is modest, the gap between "running low" and "colors visibly wrong" can be just a few busy days. Toner keeps perfectly well sealed in its box in a dry cupboard, so a spare bought ahead costs nothing in quality — it simply turns a color failure into a two-minute swap. If your color printing is rare, ordering at the warning is equally sensible.

What warranty and returns stand behind it?

Every Clever Supplies compatible cartridge is covered by a one-year warranty against defects, and purchases can be returned free of charge at any point within the first year — you will find the details on our shipping and returns page. Any questions, before or after fitting, are answered by our support team Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
