Frequently Asked Questions

We print charts and slide decks all week. How quickly does that kind of work use up cyan?

Faster than text does. Bar charts, blue headings, sky and water images, and corporate blue branding are all cyan-heavy, and a dense presentation page can use several times the toner of the plain documents the 17,000-page rating is based on. A team that produces client decks daily should expect cyan to be its fastest-moving color and plan the shelf accordingly.

Why do blues and greens lose their punch when cyan starts getting low?

Because cyan is a building block of both. Blue is printed as cyan plus magenta, and green as cyan plus yellow, so when the cyan supply fades, blues drift toward purple and greens turn yellowish and washed out. If the colors on screen look right but the printed versions look wrong in that specific direction, cyan is the first cartridge to check.

Do draft settings genuinely save cyan, or is that just a menu label?

They genuinely save it. Draft and toner-save modes lay down a thinner layer of toner per page, which is perfectly acceptable for internal proofs and markup copies. The practical approach is to proof in draft mode and switch to full quality only for the final client-facing run — the cyan savings across a month of deck revisions are substantial.

This listing is titled for the Gestetner DSC535. Is the cyan cartridge specific to that badge?

No. The cyan cartridge is the standard color cartridge for the entire Ricoh Aficio MP C4503/C5503 family, and the DSC535 is just the badge this listing is titled under: Gestetner DSC535 and Gestetner DSC545. If your machine is one of that family, this cartridge is the right cyan for it, whatever name is printed on the machine's front.

Our cyan empties well before magenta and yellow every time. Is something wrong?

Almost certainly not. The three colors deplete independently, and each office's mix of documents favors different colors — a blue-branded, chart-heavy workload will always burn cyan first. Uneven consumption is the normal pattern on this platform, which is why the colors are sold individually as well as in sets.

What happens if this cartridge arrives streaking or leaking?

Do not install a cartridge that arrives damaged — contact us first. Every cartridge is covered by a one-year warranty with free returns for a full year, and the process is set out on our shipping and returns page. Our support team is reachable Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and a cartridge that streaks from the start is exactly what the coverage exists for.
