Frequently Asked Questions

What does a single printed page cost with this black cartridge?

At the rated yield of 23,000 pages, the $55.13 price works out to roughly 0.24 cents per page for black output. That is the cartridge cost only, before paper and the machine itself, but it is a useful number when you are comparing supply costs across the printers in your office.

What does the 23,000-page yield actually assume?

Like every toner rating, that figure is measured at about 5% page coverage, which is a typical text document with margins and spacing. Pages with dense blocks of text, bold headers, or shaded tables use more toner, so a department that prints a lot of forms and reports will see a lower real-world count.

How long is one cartridge likely to last in a working office?

It depends entirely on volume. An office printing around 2,000 black pages a month would get close to a year out of one cartridge, while a busy department at 5,000 pages a month would go through it in roughly four to five months. Because the black yield on this platform is higher than the color yields, black is usually the last cartridge to need attention.

Is this cartridge only for the Gestetner DSC535 named in the listing?

No. This listing is titled for one model, but the cartridge itself is made for the whole Ricoh Aficio MP C4503/C5503 platform, and the DSC535 belongs to that same machine family: Gestetner DSC535 and Gestetner DSC545. If your machine is on that list, this is the correct black cartridge for it regardless of the badge on the front panel.

How should a spare cartridge be stored before it goes into the machine?

Keep it sealed in its original packaging, flat, and in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Stored that way, a toner cartridge keeps for a long time without degrading, so buying ahead when you find a good price is a reasonable strategy.

What protection do I get if the cartridge has a problem?

Every cartridge we sell is covered by a one-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year as well. The full terms are on our shipping and returns page, and our support team is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if anything comes up.
