Cross-reference: Ricoh 841342, the Type MPC4500A black print cartridge. This cartridge fits the Gestetner DSc535 and DSc545 — the same machine platform also sold as the Ricoh Aficio MP C3500 and MP C4500, the Savin C3535 and C4540, and the Lanier LD435c and LD445c.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why keep a second black cartridge on the shelf instead of ordering when the machine stops?

Because a shared departmental MFP never runs out of toner at a convenient moment. With a spare already in the supply cabinet, whoever gets the empty-toner message swaps the cartridge in a couple of minutes and the queue keeps moving, instead of the whole department waiting on a delivery.

How does the math work on this two-pack?

The pair costs $91.76, which is $45.88 per cartridge against $55.13 for a single, so you save $18.50 across the two. Together the cartridges are rated at 46,000 pages, and buying them this way also means one less reorder to remember later in the year.

How long will 46,000 pages of black toner realistically cover?

For a department printing about 3,000 black pages a month, this two-pack is roughly fifteen months of supply. Higher-volume floors will turn it over faster, of course, and heavy-coverage documents pull the per-cartridge yield below the 23,000-page rating, which is based on standard 5% coverage pages.

Will these cartridges work in machines other than the DSC535 in the title?

Yes. The listing names the Gestetner DSC535, but that model sits inside the broader Ricoh Aficio MP C4503/C5503 family, and the cartridge is built for the entire platform: Gestetner DSC535 and Gestetner DSC545. Any machine on that list takes this black cartridge, whichever name is on its front panel.

Does the spare cartridge go bad sitting in a cabinet?

Not under normal conditions. Toner is a dry powder, so unlike ink it does not dry out, and a cartridge kept sealed in its box in a cool, dry spot stays ready for a long time. The sensible routine is simple: install the older cartridge first and move the newer one to the front of the shelf.

Are both cartridges in the pack covered if one turns out faulty?

They are. Each cartridge carries our one-year warranty, and you have a full year of free returns as well. Details are spelled out on the shipping and returns page, and if you need a person, support answers Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
