Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to printed pages when magenta starts running low?

Reds are the first casualty, because red is built mostly from magenta and yellow. Logos lose their punch, warning labels and red charts turn orange-brown, and skin tones in photos drift toward an unhealthy green. If the reds in your output suddenly look wrong while everything else seems fine, magenta is the first cartridge to check.

How many pages should I expect from this magenta cartridge?

It is rated at 17,000 pages at the standard 5% coverage. Photo-heavy and graphics-heavy work uses considerably more magenta per page than memos do, so a marketing department will cycle through it faster than an accounting office printing the occasional color chart.

Which everyday documents use the most magenta?

Think reds, purples, and pinks: sales charts with red series lines, real-estate and retail flyers, school and church bulletins with colored headings, and any photo with people in it. Plain black text documents use essentially no magenta at all, which is why its consumption varies so much between offices.

The listing says DSC535. Will this work in my machine?

Very likely, if your machine belongs to the same family. The listing is titled for the Gestetner DSC535, but the cartridge serves the entire Ricoh Aficio MP C4503/C5503 platform: Gestetner DSC535 and Gestetner DSC545. Match your model against that list and you have your answer, regardless of the badge on your copier.

Is it worth keeping a spare magenta on hand?

For most offices, black is the cartridge that truly needs a shelf spare, because it empties first and stops everyday work. Magenta matters more if color output is customer-facing in your office. A single spare is cheap insurance against a faded batch of brochures going out the door.

What coverage backs this cartridge after I buy it?

A one-year warranty covers defects, and you can return it free of charge any time within the first year. The step-by-step details live on the shipping and returns page, and support is staffed Monday through Friday between 9 AM and 5 PM CST.
